The program integrates theoretical foundations with practical demonstrations to ensure participants gain both conceptual understanding and applied experience.
The workshop content includes
a)  A conceptual overview of causal machine learning methods for estimating average and heterogeneous treatment effects
b) Demonstrations of these methods using user-friendly software packages in R
c) Examples of recently published studies that apply these methods to health policy evaluation
Speaker:
Noémi Kreif is an Assistant Professor in Health Economics at the CHOICE Institute, University of Washington. Her research focuses on advancing causal inference and machine learning methods to improve health policy and economic evaluations, with an emphasis on real-world decision making. She holds a PhD in Health Economics from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and previously worked at the University of York on health policy evaluations in low- and middle-income countries. Her current work integrates causal inference and machine learning to support more personalized and equitable health policy decisions, and she is passionate about mentoring the next generation of researchers in modern quantitative methods.
